About Us
The Old Mill Autos story started in 1990 when two car mad engineers, Bob and David, first opened the doors of their garage in the centre of Shipley. They soon earned a local reputation for quality work at economical prices.
As the business grew space became ever more confined at the old garage and in 1999 Old Mill Autos moved to the current premises in Powell Road. The new garage has three ramps and more parking and storage space for cars.
In 2005 Bob decided he wanted to retire; but still pops in occasionally for a brew and a chat. It was on Bob’s retirement that the current father and son line up, David and Kevin, started working together.
David learnt about cars from an early age, and has spent most of his adult life rallying and repairing them. In 2005 David, and his navigator Nigel, entered the Revival Rally in a Peugeot 106. After 1200 miles around England and Wales they finished a creditable 25th overall and 7th in class. This was supposed to mark their retirement from rallying but watch this space. David is married with two grown up children and one grandchild.
Kevin has inherited the car mad genes from his Dad. He went to LeedsTechnicalCollege and got his City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Technology qualification. Since then he has worked for Citroen and Land Rover Main dealers before moving to Old Mill Autos in 2005. Kevin also goes rallying but his car is currently off the road while it is converted from a Sierra to an Escort.Kevin married Caryn in April 2006.
